IMEx (Integrated Management Exercise) is a computer-simulation team-challenge game designed to help you develop an effective strategy and take consistent marketing, production, purchase and personnel decisions.
In groups you will form the management team of a ficticious company, working together to plan and build up a recovering company. You will be competing against other teams to win the challenge.
This course is led by Ann Vereecke.
Approach to learning
The IMEx simulates the challenges of running a business, putting your knowledge into action. You will apply various techniques and concepts taught in different courses in teams, helping you to make managerial decisions in a competitive, dynamic and interactive environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to discover the cross-disciplinary nature of business while learning to manage a range of stakeholders.
Programme content
The 7 week game is set over a ficticious period of 3 years, splitting each year into quarters. In each quarter you will need to complete tasks, making decisions, negotiations and even presenting to the board, who in this case are Vlerick faculty.
During the game you will need to consider:
- Break-even analysis
- Investment plan
- Strategic plan
- Board presentations
- Marketing plan
The IMEx game is measured by performance in the following areas:
- Financial profit
- Social profit
- Environmental profit
So, it isn’t necessarily the team with the biggest financial profit that win’s!
Knowledge into action
This game not only tests what you have learnt during the programme, but is also a test of group work and time management skills.
