The faculty team is made up of a number of experts from the exceptional Vlerick faculty with a diverse range of skills and experiences in global business.
Professor of International Economics and European Integration
Filip focuses on key developments in the global and European business environment and assesses how they affect countries, regions and companies. He is the author of several books and articles on those topics and has worked as an expert for the European Commission in various research contracts. Filip is a co-author on the Doing Business in a Global World course.
Professor of Marketing and Data Analytics
Philippe focuses on customer relationship management, business analytics and big data. Equipped with strong data analytics skills, he has coached numerous organisations on big data projects and customised business research projects for companies such as KBC, Dunnhumby/Tesco (London), Bisnode, BIG, Mobile Vikings and Sanoma. Philippe is a co-author on the Digital Strategy course.
Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour
In addition to her work in university education, Smaranda has been a consultant in industry, specialising in embedded management development interventions. Her research interests focus on team dynamics, diversity in teams, gender and management, and organisational and group identification. She is also certified in group and individual coaching and counselling. Smaranda leads the Doing Business in a Global World course.
Professor of Supply Chain Management
Robert looks at operational excellence from the perspective of designing, managing and improving organisational processes for manufacturing and service organisations. In 2016 Robert was ranked in the top 40 professors under 40 by Poets & Quants. He is a co-author on the Operations & Supply Chain Management course.
Professor of HR and Leadership
Dirk is an authority on strategic HR and can bring out the best in you and your organisation when it comes to people management, career management and organisational development. Dirk has carried out teaching and advisory tasks for many multinational organisations and has published numerous articles, books and chapters on organisational development, career management and a wide variety of management skills. He is a co-author on the HR Management course.
Associate Professor of Technology and Operations Management
Brecht introduces you to the world of decision sciences and process analytics and shows how these techniques contribute to improved manufacturing and service operations management. He heads the healthcare provider initiatives of Vlerick’s Healthcare Management Centre such as MINOZ, a research network of Belgian hospitals searching for solutions to operational challenges. Brecht furthermore contributes to a wide variety of research initiatives for business and society. His work has been published in various international and refereed academic journals. He is a co-author on the Induction and Primers, and the Knowledge in Action Project.
Professor of Entrepreneurship
Looking into the ‘darker’ side of investor-entrepreneur relationships, Veroniek’s goal is to make both parties less naive in their dealings with each other and to teach them how to make the most of their partnership. Veroniek has developed a substantial network of entrepreneurs and angel investors in both Belgium and the USA’s Silicon Valley, where she conducted her research on conflict between investors and entrepreneurs. She is a co-author on the Induction and Primers, and the Knowledge in Action Project.
Dean and Professor of Marketing and Innovation
Marion is passionate about the strategic side of innovation and the innovative side of strategy. She helps companies think about how to respond to changing markets and escape commoditisation by adapting their product line, marketing strategy and ultimately, their business model.
Professor of HR and Leadership
One of the leading professors in Vlerick’s Centre for Excellence in Strategic Talent Management, Koen focuses on people performance issues. His main teaching and research interests are employee motivation, performance management and strategic HRM. Koen has worked on employee motivation and performance management issues with numerous leading public and private companies. He leads the HR Management course.
Walter Van Dyck
Associate Professor of Technology and Innovation Management
Walter studies idea emergence, showing how inventions come about and transform into innovative business models in life science- and technology-based ecosystems. He is the Director of the Vlerick Healthcare Management Centre. Walter leads the Innovation course.
